An “I’m not feeling it today” Kind Of Day.
Ah, the joys of being an aspiring software engineer! You wake up one morning feeling all pumped up and ready to conquer the world with your keyboard and mouse, but then there are days when you simply can't summon the energy to even look at your computer. Don't worry, my friend, we've all been there.
The good news is, it's perfectly fine to take a day off from coding and coursework. In fact, it's essential to avoid burnout and keep your creativity and productivity levels high. Sometimes, stepping away from your work can actually lead to breakthroughs and fresh ideas when you return to it.
But if you’re like me, occasionally you say you’re going to take a break, however, you can’t really take a break. For some reason, sometimes I REALLY want to relax and be productive at the same time. Another great way to take a break from coding while still being productive is to watch other developers code. With the abundance of coding streams and YouTube videos available online, you can easily find content that matches your interests and skill level.
Watching other developers code can give you insight into different coding practices and techniques, and you may even learn a thing or two that you can apply to your own projects. Plus, it's a great way to stay engaged with the coding community and learn from experts in the field.
By taking a step back and watching others code, you can recharge your batteries and approach your own coding challenges with a fresh perspective. So, the next time you're feeling burnt out or uninspired, why not take a break and tune in to a coding stream or video? Who knows, it may just be the inspiration you need to get back on track.
My favorite thing to do, is watching people who code, do ANYTHING but code. I like to watch metalandcoffee_, a senior software engineer, play video games. I also enjoy watching Ux/Ui design videos from time to time as well. Things that stimulate my nerdy brain, without overstimulating it.
So, go ahead and indulge in some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Watch someone stream a coding project, or a developer stream a video game. Watch some Netflix, take a walk, or simply laze around in bed. And remember, tomorrow is a new day, full of opportunities to code like a boss.
